Product Description

    1942 Izhevsk Mosin-Nagant Model 1891/30 7.62x54R Bolt-Action Rifle

Built at the Izhevsk Arsenal in 1942, this Mosin-Nagant Model 1891/30 represents a true wartime production rifle. It retains its full-length 28 in. barrel, steel receiver, and hardwood stock, complete with the original cleaning rod and bayonet lug. A PW Arms import mark identifies it as part of the last large wave of Russian surplus rifles that entered the U.S. market in the early 2000s—imports that have since slowed, making examples like this increasingly harder to find.

    Condition
Overall Condition: Fair condition, showing extensive signs of prior use and handling.
Bore Condition: Fair – Generally clean, some residue or smudges, slight corrosion.
Bore Rifling: Fair Rifling – Worn rifling, slight loss of definition.
Specific Condition Notes: The action functions smoothly and reliably. The bore shows surface rust throughout. The birch stock displays age-appropriate finish wear and handling marks consistent with wartime service.

    What’s Included

    • Izhevsk Mosin-Nagant Model 1891/30 rifle
    • Full-length 28 in. cleaning rod (installed)

Manufactured during the height of World War II, this rifle features the round “high-wall” receiver and straight bolt handle typical of mid-war Izhevsk production. Wartime simplifications—such as the half-liner sling slots and stamped spring band retainers—remain intact, underscoring its period-correct configuration.

The 28 in. steel barrel is chambered for the powerful 7.62x54R cartridge and feeds from a five-round fixed magazine with a hinged floorplate. Standard iron sights include an unhooded front post integral to the bayonet lug and a tangent rear sight graduated from 100 to 2,000 meters.

Original black oxide bluing covers the receiver, barrel, and small parts, pairing with the shellac-finished hardwood stock. The PW Arms Redmond WA stamp confirms its path from Russian stores to the U.S. surplus market.

Collectors value wartime Mosin-Nagant rifles for their historical context and robust design. This 1942 Izhevsk example offers an authentic piece of Eastern Front history with all major military features present and functional.
