Crescent Quail Hammerless .410 Bore Side-by-Side Shotgun | 26" Barrels, 1920s Small-Frame American Double
Produced in the 1920s, this Crescent Fire Arms Co. Quail Hammerless is one of the few purpose-built American .410 side-by-side shotguns made before WWII. An early serial number in the 4400 range marks it as early production. Collectors prize its small-frame action, color case-hardened receiver, and factory-fixed Improved/Modified chokes, all of which remain intact. The gun offers a rare combination of compact handling and classic American craftsmanship.

What’s Included
- Crescent Fire Arms Co. Quail Hammerless .410 Bore side-by-side shotgun
This Quail Hammerless rides on a trim steel frame scaled specifically for the .410 cartridge. Internal hammers keep the profile sleek while retaining a traditional double-trigger layout for instant choke selection.
The 26-inch blued fluid-steel barrels feature a matted rib and a single brass bead. Factory-fixed Improved/Modified chokes give balanced patterns for small-game hunting or clays, and the extractor-only mechanism simplifies cleaning and maintenance.
A color case-hardened receiver adds period-correct appeal and contrasts with the deep blue barrels. The automatic tang safety engages as the action opens, providing straightforward operation.
American walnut furniture includes a checkered semi-pistol-grip stock and matching splinter forend. Length of pull measures 13.5 inches to a hard-rubber butt-plate, keeping the shotgun lively in hand.
Discontinued when Crescent was absorbed by Stevens in 1931, authentic Quail Hammerless doubles remain scarce. This example offers collectors a solid blend of originality, usability, and historical significance.
