International Harvester M1 Garand .30-06 Postage-Stamp Receiver, 1953 – Rare Early IHC Production Semi-Automatic Rifle
This 1953 International Harvester M1 Garand features the scarce four-line “Postage-Stamp” receiver marking found only on early IHC rifles. Built under a Cold War contract to diversify U.S. production, it combines collectible rarity with the proven .30-06 Garand platform. The forged receiver, walnut furniture, and distinctive IHC provenance make this example a noteworthy addition for shooters and collectors who value uncommon variants.

What’s Included
- M1 Garand 8-round en-bloc clip
International Harvester produced fewer Garands than any other wartime or post-war contractor, and the early “Postage-Stamp” roll mark is the least common of all IHC variations. Serial number 4448XXX falls in the first production block, underscoring this rifle’s desirability among focused Garand collectors.
The rifle retains its original 24" barrel chambered in .30-06 Springfield, feeding from the classic eight-round en-bloc clip system that made the M1 famous. Gas-operated, semi-automatic action delivers the fast follow-up shots that defined U.S. service rifles of the era.
Walnut stock, upper, and lower handguards present with a pistol-grip profile and a trap-door buttplate for cleaning-kit storage. The oil-finished wood pairs with a forged carbon-steel receiver still wearing its dark gray parkerized base under the later refinish.
Standard Garand iron sights include a wing-protected front post and an aperture rear sight with windage and elevation drums, giving shooters precise, repeatable adjustments out to battlefield distances.
