Product Description

    Smith-Corona 1903A3 Sporterized .30-06 Bolt-Action Rifle, 24" Barrel, 1943 WWII Receiver

This sporterized Smith-Corona Model 1903A3 pairs a 1943-dated WWII receiver with tasteful post-war hunting upgrades. The rifle keeps the strong two-lug ’03 action yet adds a high-polish blue refinish, jeweling and fluting on the bolt, and a Monte-Carlo walnut stock with a comfortable 14.5" length of pull. Receiver machining accepts Weaver-style scope bases, giving the classic platform modern optic flexibility while preserving its wartime lineage.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.

Specific Condition Notes: The rifle was professionally sporterized. It wears a glossy commercial blued finish, a polished fluted bolt, and an aftermarket Monte-Carlo walnut stock. Minor scratches, scuffs, and small blemishes are present, with a neatly mended chip on the left front of the stock.

Bore Condition: Good – Clean, well-maintained, with only minor wear.

Bore Rifling: Good Rifling – Intact, well-defined lands and grooves.

    What’s Included

    • Sporterized Smith-Corona 1903A3 .30-06 bolt-action rifle

Built on serial number range 3629XXX, this action falls within Smith-Corona’s April–May 1943 production block, making it one of the scarcer WWII-era 03A3 receivers. Smith-Corona produced far fewer rifles than Springfield Armory, giving this example added historical interest.

The rifle features a 24" tapered barrel that is free-floated in the stock for consistent accuracy. A dovetailed blade on a ramp front sight remains, while the receiver is drilled and tapped for Weaver-style scope bases to simplify optic installation.

An aftermarket Monte-Carlo walnut stock adds a rollover cheek piece, pistol-grip contour, sling-swivel studs, and a ventilated rubber recoil pad. The result is a comfortable 14.5" length of pull suited to hunting or target use.

Metalwork shows a deep, high-polish blue refinish that contrasts nicely with the jeweling and fluting on the bolt body. The traditional two-position flag safety and five-round internal magazine remain intact, preserving familiar 1903A3 operation.
