This Birmingham Small Arms Company Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk I is a WWII-era .303 British bolt-action rifle made in England and later sporterized. It retains its robust No.4 action, 10-round detachable magazine, and receiver-mounted micrometer aperture sight. British commercial proofs (crowned BNP, ENP, .303 2.222", 18.5 TONS PER [square]) and the ENGLAND export stamp are present, and the receiver is marked No4 Mk1.
Condition
Overall Condition: Fair condition, showing extensive signs of prior use and handling.
Bore Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.
Bore Rifling: Good Rifling - Intact, well-defined lands and grooves.
Specific Condition Notes: The sporterized wood stock shows various dings, scratches, and handling marks. The barrel and receiver display finish thinning on the high edges, and most of the original finish has changed to a grey patina.

Built by Birmingham Small Arms Company, this No. 4 Mk I features the rear-locking, cock-on-closing Lee-Enfield action with charger-loading capability via the integral charger guide. The receiver is marked No4 Mk1, and the rifle feeds from a detachable 10-round box magazine, giving a 10+1 capacity.
The rifle is sporterized with a two-piece wood stock that has a shortened forend and no upper handguards. It retains practical field fittings, including sling swivels and a brass buttplate with a trapdoor. Length of pull measures 13.0 in.
Sighting equipment consists of the receiver-mounted aperture rear sight with a milled micrometer elevation ladder and a front sight.
Proofed and exported after service, it bears British commercial proofs and markings: crowned BNP, ENP, .303 2.222", and 18.5 TONS PER [square], along with the ENGLAND export stamp. The steel receiver and 25.2 in barrel reflect the No.4 pattern’s durable construction. Made in England.
