Romarm/Cugir SAR-1 7.62x39 Semi-Automatic AKM-Pattern Rifle, 16.25 in Chrome-Lined Barrel
The SAR-1 is the Romanian AKM variant that arrived in the United States with its original double-stack receiver and magazine-well dimples, making it a desirable import for collectors and shooters alike. Produced in 2003 and brought in by Century Arms, this rifle retains its chrome-lined, non-threaded barrel, laminated beech furniture, and stamped steel receiver—all hallmarks that set the SAR-series apart from later WASR conversions.

What’s Included
- 1× 30-round ribbed steel AKM-pattern magazine
Built on a 1 mm stamped steel receiver with rib reinforcement, this SAR-1 delivers the classic long-stroke gas piston action and rotating bolt that AK rifles are known for. The receiver markings include “MADE BY C.N. ROMARM S.A./CUGIR IN ROMANIA” and Century Arms’ Georgia, Vermont import stamp, verifying authenticity.
The 16.25 inch chrome-lined barrel offers corrosion resistance and extended service life. Its muzzle is turned smooth with the bayonet-lug reliefs ground flush, staying compliant with 2003 import regulations while preserving the rifle’s clean profile.
Laminated beech stock and handguards, finished in shellac, provide durability and the traditional Romanian look. The lower handguard features a palm swell for a secure grip, and a black polymer pistol grip with molded checkering offers modern control.
Iron sights consist of an open-ear front post and an adjustable rear tangent sight graduated from “P” to 1–10 (100–1000 m). Combined with the 1:9.4 RH twist, these sights help capitalize on the rifle’s chrome-lined accuracy potential.
With its collectible 2003 production date, original double-stack configuration, and solid mechanical condition, this SAR-1 represents a practical shooter that also holds historical appeal for AK enthusiasts.
