A collection without a plan gets sold by strangers

Most collectors have seen it at an estate sale: a Colt Python sells for a third of its book value because no buyer at the sale knows what it is, and the family wants the sale finished. You watched it happen to another man's collection and thought the thing every serious collector eventually thinks: not mine.

Fifty years of right decisions live in your safe. Which variation, which condition, which one to walk away from. Your wife and your kids are good people, and they know none of it. If the collection outlives the plan, somebody else's ignorance sets the prices.

Or you handle it now, piece by piece, while the man who knows what everything is worth is still in the room. Nobody said it out loud, so we will: selling it right is the last thing you do for the collection, and one of the better things you'll do for your family.

You know what you have. Talk to somebody who does too.

You shouldn't have to explain to the man behind a gun store counter why the pre-64 matters. With us, you don't have to.

Our appraisers have valued more than 250,000 guns. Military and law enforcement veterans, licensed gunsmiths, career appraisers: people who see the difference between a shooter and a safe queen at a glance, and price accordingly. The oddball guns don't slow anything down, and nothing gets waved off with "we don't take those."

Every gun is examined for what it is and what condition it's in, and the collection comes back as one written offer. You'll deal with the actual person who priced it, and if you think they missed something on the Luger, tell them. The number moves when you're right.

Cash for the shooters. Consignment for the collection.

There's no reason to sell a $400 pump gun and a $4,000 Python the same way, so we don't ask you to.

Take cash for the common guns: a written offer, our Best Price Guarantee behind it (any dealer offers more, we beat it), and payment the day the guns arrive.

Consign the pieces that deserve a real market. Your gun goes to auction in front of the national buyer pool, and the bidders set the price. Our consignments average 13% above market for comparable guns, depending on the bidders each auction draws.

Mix and match across the whole safe: choose cash or consignment gun by gun, and we send the offer type you pick. Decline a cash offer on a piece well-suited to auction, and we'll suggest consignment then.

Every gun gets priced on its own, not as part of a lot.

Look at our listings, then look at anybody else's. Every consigned gun gets studio photography and a full, honest description written by people who know what details move a serious buyer. And it's all under our True Photo Pledge: not one pixel retouched. Buyers bid harder when they trust their eyes, and that confidence lands in your final price.

Each piece is photographed, described, and priced on its own terms, whether it's the Python or the pump gun that came with it. Nothing gets bundled, nothing gets rounded off.

Sell five now. Sell the rest when you're ready.

Some sellers clear the safe in one transaction. Others send a batch each season and keep their favorites to the end. Both work here. One dedicated expert handles your collection start to finish, so the person you talk to in March remembers what you sent in January.

You decide what goes in each batch before we price it, offers stay open 14 days, and nobody calls to hurry you. It's your collection. It stays your collection until the moment you say otherwise.

How to sell a gun collection

Nothing gets hauled anywhere. That's the point.

Call it twenty guns. Selling them one at a time means twenty descriptions, twenty rounds of photos, twenty negotiations with twenty strangers, and a month of your life.

Hauling them around town isn't better: the first shop wants only your three best guns, the second one lowballs the lot, and now it's dark and your trunk is still full.

Here's the version where the math works for you. Submit once, and everything counts: every gun, plus the optics, cases, parts, and factory ammunition that most buyers pocket without a word, all rolled into one written offer.

No cherry-picking. We don't buy your three best guns and leave you a safe full of leftovers. If you want it all gone, it all goes.

A few guns: free shipping with prepaid labels, plain-English packing instructions, and free carrier pickup at your front door.

A whole room: we come to you, anywhere in the country. Our people do the packing, the paperwork, and the driving. You don't box up a thing.

A clean record instead of a guessing game.

Every offer and every sale, in writing. What sold, what it paid, and what stayed. If you keep a dozen pieces, your family holds a record that says exactly what they are, so nothing ends up at a yard sale wearing a $40 sticker. Executors file it, siblings read it, and nobody wonders what happened to anything.

Your NFA items get the same treatment. We're a Class III dealer: suppressors, short-barreled rifles, machine guns, all handled and transferred correctly, so no one you love ever has to learn what a tax stamp is from a probate attorney.

Gun Collection FAQs

How do I know your values are honest?

Check them. Our sold auction results are public, our appraisers price against real comparable sales, and you can question any number with the person who wrote it. Collectors are our sharpest customers. We'd rather argue a value with you than lose you over one.

Can I sell in stages?

Yes, and many collectors do. Batch by batch, season by season, with one dedicated expert who knows your collection across every transaction.

Can I take cash for some and consign the rest?

Yes, and most collections should. Cash is certain and fast, which suits the common guns. Consignment sends a gun to auction, where our results average 13% above market but the final price depends on the bidders it draws. You pick the offer type per gun and that's what we send.

What about my suppressors and other NFA items?

We're a Class III dealer. Registered suppressors, SBRs, SBSs, AOWs, and machine guns are all bought and transferred correctly, paperwork handled on our end.

Do you cherry-pick collections?

No. We don't buy your three best guns and leave you the rest. If you want it all gone, it all goes: guns, optics, parts, cases, and factory ammunition, all counted in one offer.

What if I only want a value for my estate plan?

Start there. The written valuation is free and yours to keep, whether you sell this year, in five years, or leave the selling instructions in the will.

How many guns count as "a collection"?

Two is plenty. The one-deal treatment works the same at two guns or two hundred; the free in-person pickup kicks in for large collections.

We're settling an estate and don't know what half of this is.

That's fine, and common. Send photos and we'll identify and value every piece before you decide anything.

You decided everything about this collection. Decide this too.

Get the collection priced by people who know what they're holding. Then sell on your schedule, or file the number away with the rest of the plan.
