Smith & Wesson M&P15 Sport II 5.56mm NATO Semi-Automatic Rifle, 16" Threaded Barrel, MLOK Handguard & MBUS Rear Sight
The Smith & Wesson M&P15 Sport II is a modern, lightweight AR-15–pattern rifle built on forged 7075-T6 aluminum receivers and fitted with Magpul MOE M-LOK furniture. This Sport II variant restores the dust cover and forward assist absent on the original Sport, giving shooters the full Mil-Spec control set while keeping weight and cost down. A 16" 4140 steel barrel with 1:9" twist is optimized for common 55–62 grain 5.56 NATO loads, while the 1/2-28 threading accepts popular muzzle devices or suppressors. Completed with a carbine-length gas system, A2 front sight base, and Magpul MBUS Gen 2 rear sight, this rifle ships ready for range, duty, or home-defense roles.

- Magpul MBUS Gen 2 flip-up rear sight (installed)
The Sport II’s 4140 steel barrel receives a phosphate treatment for added corrosion resistance and ends in standard 1/2-28 threads, allowing immediate attachment of flash hiders, compensators, or suppressors. The non-chrome-lined bore keeps cost down while maintaining tight tolerances for accuracy.
Magpul’s MOE M-LOK carbine-length handguard offers direct-mount slots at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock, letting shooters add lights, grips, or bipods without extra rail sections. Combined with the six-position M4 stock and A2 pistol grip, the rifle provides a customizable yet familiar handling package.
The TM-prefix serial number dates this Sport II to 2019–2022 production at Smith & Wesson’s Springfield, Massachusetts facility. As part of the company’s best-selling M&P15 line, it delivers proven reliability with a forged, hard-coat anodized receiver set and direct-impingement operating system.
