Manufactured by Preduzeće 44 (Crvena Zastava), the M24/47 represents Yugoslavia’s first large-scale post-WWII armament project. Each rifle started as an M1924 receiver, shortened to an intermediate length and re-chambered for 8mm Mauser, delivering proven Mauser 98 strength with updated parts.
The receiver ring carries the Yugoslav communist crest and factory marks, offering collectors unmistakable authenticity. The prominent “Б” proof on the barrel further confirms inspection by Yugoslav military authorities.
A controlled-round-feed bolt action feeds from a five-round internal magazine, retaining the smooth operation Mauser rifles are known for. The intermediate-length action balances handling and durability, making the rifle practical for the range while preserving historical character.
Military iron sights remain in place: a hoodless inverted-V front sight with protective ears and a tangent rear sight graduated to 2000 meters. These sights, combined with the clean bore, provide reliable period-correct accuracy.
