The BD variant replaces the manual safety with a decocking lever, allowing safe hammer-down carry in double-action mode while retaining crisp single-action follow-up shots. The decocker works in concert with a firing-pin block, safety stop on the hammer, and inertial firing pin to provide multiple redundant safety layers.
