What’s Included
- Marlin Model 30AS .30-30 lever-action rifle
This 30AS variant was Marlin’s affordable alternative to the Glenfield 30A, yet it retains the solid-top, side-eject receiver and internal mechanics of the famed Model 336. As a result, it accepts the same aftermarket parts and mounts, making scope installation straightforward.
The 20-inch barrel uses Marlin’s 12-groove Micro-Groove rifling, designed to reduce fouling and promote consistent accuracy with standard .30-30 ammunition. A 1:10 twist rate stabilizes common 150- to 170-grain bullets.
Feeding is handled by a full-length tubular magazine that holds six rounds, plus one in the chamber. Lever throw remains smooth and positive, aided by the familiar flat steel lifter found on late-1980s Marlins.
Safety features include the post-1983 cross-bolt safety and an internal hammer-block, providing added security during carry. The rifle ships with factory iron sights: a brass-bead front on a ramped base and a folding semi-buckhorn rear that’s drift-adjustable for windage.
Birch hardwood furniture with a straight grip keeps weight manageable while maintaining the classic lever-gun profile. The 13.1-inch length of pull and molded “Marlin” buttplate offer a comfortable fit for most shooters.
