Product Description

    H&R U.S.R.A. 4th Variation .22 LR Single-Shot Target Pistol — 7-Inch Cut-Rifled Barrel, Roper Walnut Grip, 1936-1939 Production

This Harrington & Richardson U.S.R.A. 4th Variation is a full-size, break-open target pistol built between 1936 and 1939. Fewer than 3,300 were produced across all variations, and the 4th Variation is especially sought after for its refined mechanical updates and limited run. Designed by renowned pistolsmith Walter F. Roper for bull-eye competition, the model earned a place on the U.S.

Army Pistol Team and set national accuracy records in the 1930s.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Condition: Good – Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.

Bore Rifling: Good – Intact, well-defined lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: Rust is present on the pistol grip, there are small cuts on the frame, and the hammer displays areas of missing finish.

    What’s Included

    • Harrington & Richardson U.S.R.A. 4th Variation .22 LR single-shot target pistol

The 7-inch carbon-steel barrel is cut-rifled for match accuracy and fitted to a tip-up action with an automatic ejector, allowing fast single-hand reloads during timed stages.

The high-polish blued frame and barrel contrast with the Roper-style walnut grip. The grip is checkered, features a palm swell, and was shaped to promote a natural point of aim on the bull-eye target.

Iron sights consist of a Patridge blade front and a drift-adjustable square-notch rear, mirroring the sight picture preferred by 1930s competitors. This sight set, combined with the barrel’s precise rifling, helped the U.S.R.A. earn its reputation for record-setting accuracy.

With a low production total and direct ties to competitive shooting history, this 4th Variation example is both a functional target pistol and a collectible piece of pre-war American firearms engineering.
