The M&P15-22 was named Shooting Industry’s Rifle of the Year in 2010 for bringing AR ergonomics to the rimfire world. This early production Gen 1 example retains the original unthreaded 16-inch carbon-steel barrel and 1:15 RH twist that reliably stabilizes standard-velocity .22 LR ammunition.
Polymer upper and lower receivers keep weight down while steel inserts reinforce critical stress points. Ambidextrous selector markings mirror centerfire AR controls, making the rifle a cost-effective trainer that feels instantly familiar.
The factory quad-rail handguard delivers four true Picatinny rails for accessories. UTG rail covers improve grip and protect unused sections, while the MGE vertical fore-grip offers added control during rapid strings.
Up top, the included Firefield Reflex optic provides a fast, parallax-free aiming point and co-witnesses with the flip-up iron sights. A recessed magazine release and manual safety round out the controls, and the proprietary 25-round magazine feeds reliably thanks to a dedicated rimfire blowback action.
