Product Description

    Winchester M1 Carbine, Late-War 1944 Production, .30 Carbine, Parkerized, Custom Rail-Equipped

Made in 1944, this Winchester M1 Carbine represents one of roughly 828,000 carbines Winchester produced during World War II. The rifle retains its correct late-war features—low-wood stock, four-vent handguard, and Type III barrel band—while incorporating tasteful, reversible upgrades: an optics rail mounted in the rear-sight dovetail and a short accessory rail beneath the barrel. Collectors and shooters alike will appreciate the combination of historical authenticity, careful preservation, and modern utility.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Very good condition, showing only light, superficial signs of prior handling or use.

Bore Condition: Excellent - Clean, mirror finish, no signs of wear.

Rifling Condition: Excellent Rifling - Sharp lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: There are minor handling marks on the walnut stock and parkerized steel surfaces consistent with careful use. The bore is bright and free of fouling.

    What’s Included

    • Winchester M1 Carbine rifle with aftermarket optics rail and accessory rail installed
    • 1 × 30-round USGI-pattern steel magazine
    • 2 × 15-round USGI-pattern steel magazines
    • 2 × 5-round USGI-pattern steel magazines

Serial number 5,750,843 places this carbine in Winchester’s late-1944 production run, an era valued for its refined design updates. With fewer Winchester carbines made than many other contractors, authentic examples carry heightened collector appeal.

The low-wood, oval sling-cut stock bears a “P-J” marking inside the sling well, indicating a Precision/Overton-Johnson replacement—an accepted World War II component. It pairs with a four-vent handguard that aids barrel cooling in extended firing.

The rifle’s Type III barrel band integrates both the sling swivel and bayonet lug, a practical late-war improvement over earlier bands. Parkerized steel throughout shows consistent, even finish, providing proven corrosion resistance.

Modern enhancements include a precision-fit optics rail occupying the original rear-sight dovetail and a discreet accessory rail under the barrel. Both rails are secured without permanent alteration, allowing easy return to original configuration if desired.

Internally, the gas-operated, short-stroke piston action cycles smoothly, and the excellent bore preserves the accuracy expected from an 18-inch steel barrel. The push-button safety and 13.25-inch length of pull maintain familiar M1 ergonomics.
