Springfield Armory Defender Model PDP .45 ACP 1911 with Dual-Port Compensator & Wilson Combat Rosewood Grips
This Springfield Armory Defender Model PDP is a rare, Custom Shop 1911 built between 1991 and 1998. It pairs a full-size forged stainless frame with a shortened, compensated slide, creating a balance of reduced muzzle rise and carry-friendly length. Hand-fit construction, a two-tone finish, and Wilson Combat checkered rosewood grips set this pistol apart for collectors and shooters who appreciate limited-run, performance-oriented 1911s.

The Defender PDP features a Champion-length 4-inch bull cone barrel capped with a factory dual-port compensator, extending overall barrel length to 4.4 inches. The compensator works with the full-size Government frame to soften recoil while maintaining familiar 1911 ergonomics.
A matte blue slide contrasts with the bead-blast stainless frame, giving the pistol its distinctive two-tone look. Rear angled serrations provide a secure grasp, and the slide houses fully adjustable Bo-Mar-style target sights paired with a dovetailed front blade sporting a white dot.
Springfield’s Custom Shop built these pistols with the “NM” serial prefix, indicating hand-fit internals. A skeletonized commander-style hammer, skeletonized match trigger, extended thumb safety, and beavertail grip safety come installed from the factory.
Wilson Combat checkered rosewood grip panels upgrade handling and aesthetics. For those preferring the original appearance, a set of factory black checkered grips is included.
With limited production numbers, custom-level fit, and competition-oriented features, this Defender PDP stands out as both a collectible and a ready-to-run .45 ACP 1911.
