The rifle uses the HK roller-delayed blowback system and a fluted chamber, paired with an approximately 16-inch barrel capped by a long birdcage flash suppressor. The front triple frame includes a sling loop and has no bayonet adapter installed. A bayonet is provided; however, a bayonet adapter would have to be installed to mount it to this rifle.
Controls and furniture are period-correct: a semi-auto shelf receiver with button-only magazine release (no paddle), left-side forward charging handle, and selector markings '0' in white and '1' in red. The rear sight is a rotating diopter drum graduated 200–400 m, matched with a hooded front post for precise alignment.
The A3 retractable, telescoping steel stock features a checkered rubber buttpad and provides a length of pull of 14.0 inches. The rifle retains its slim black polymer handguard and polymer pistol grip. The stamped steel receiver wears a black paint-over-phosphate finish that complements the black furniture for a cohesive, original appearance.
