The M&P15-22 is built as a dedicated .22 LR AR-pattern trainer with controls that mirror centerfire ARs, including a functional last-round bolt hold open. It offers familiar handling for practice or rimfire applications while maintaining AR-style ergonomics.
Its 16-inch carbon steel barrel uses a 1:15 twist and is threaded, capped with an A2-style birdcage flash hider. The rifle runs a semi-automatic blowback action and uses a two-position safety with an AR-pattern charging handle.
The lightweight polymer receiver pairs with a polymer quad-rail handguard featuring Picatinny rails at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock, plus a full-length top rail for mounting. An ATI collapsible carbine stock is installed, and the A2-pattern polymer pistol grip provides a familiar interface.
Factory A2-style iron sights are installed and ready to use. A Primary Arms red-dot optic with a red reticle is mounted on the top rail to speed sight acquisition and complement the included irons.
