The JAKL employs a long-stroke gas piston with a user-adjustable gas block and a bufferless captured recoil system, enabling a true side-folding stock. Ejection is to the right side, and ambidextrous safety selectors are marked SAFE/FIRE on both sides for clear, mirrored controls.
Its monolithic aluminum upper and handguard provide a rigid platform with a continuous 12 o'clock Picatinny rail and M-LOK slots at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock for accessory placement. A forward, left-side charging handle comes installed and is reversible to suit user preference.
The 16.5-inch barrel is 4150 CMV steel with a nitrided finish, 1:7 twist, and 1/2x28 threads capped by a 3-prong, open-ended flash hider. This setup supports dependable 5.56x45 performance while maintaining standard AR-15 magazine compatibility with a 30+1 capacity.
