Built on the AR-15 platform, this M&P-15 uses a semi-automatic, direct-impingement system with right-side ejection. It features aluminum alloy receivers with a matte black finish and a flat-top upper that includes a full-length Picatinny rail, forward assist, brass deflector, and ejection-port cover. The rifle is made in the United States and is marked with Smith & Wesson factory roll marks.
The long, free-float aluminum M-LOK handguard provides ample attachment points and runs a continuous top rail to the receiver. A low-profile gas block sits under the handguard. This example includes an installed short M-LOK Picatinny rail section at 6 o'clock near the muzzle and an installed M-LOK QD sling-swivel socket plate. No iron sights are installed. It is compatible with STANAG-pattern detachable box magazines.
Controls and furniture are practical and well-sorted: an ambidextrous safety selector is installed, and the rifle retains a standard magazine release and a single-stage curved trigger. The black polymer stock is a 6-position telescoping design with an adjustable length of pull stated as 10.5"–13.5". A Magpul polymer pistol grip is installed for a secure, familiar interface.
The 16" barrel is threaded and fitted with a cylindrical multi-port muzzle brake/compensator. Chambered in 5.56mm NATO, the rifle has a maximum stated capacity of 40+1 with the included 40-round magazine.
