The MR762A1 uses a semi-automatic, short-stroke gas piston system with an HK-marked bolt carrier. The receivers are aluminum alloy with a black hardcoat anodized finish, and the rifle features a flat-top upper with a T-marked Picatinny rail.
The 16.5-inch barrel is cold hammer-forged, free-floated, and threaded, capped with an open-tine four-prong flash hider. An aluminum free-float M-LOK handguard provides a continuous top Picatinny rail with numbered markings, M-LOK slots with the "M" identifier, and integral QD sockets.
Controls and ergonomics include an ambidextrous safety selector with HK pictograms, a forward assist, and an ejection-port dust cover. The stock offers an adjustable length of pull and an adjustable cheek piece, with a rubber buttpad. Length of pull is 12.75 inches. The Magpul polymer pistol grip is finished in tan.
Markings include the receiver rollmarks "MR 762 A1" over "7.62 mm x 51," importer marking "Heckler & Koch Inc., Columbus GA," and a German proof/date code "HK P CB" on the upper.
