The pistol uses a simple blowback, striker-fired, single-action system with a two-position thumb safety. The safety interfaces with a rear safety notch and a forward disassembly notch, reflecting the model’s classic rotating-barrel takedown approach.
Key slide details include a serrated top rib for glare reduction, vertical rear serrations for traction, a right-side ejection port, and both safety and disassembly notches. Fixed integral sights consist of an integral front blade and a rear notch for a low-profile sight picture suited to pocket carry.
Despite its compact size, the Bauer Automatic provides 6+1 capacity in .25 ACP. Dimensions are purpose-built for concealment, with an overall length of about 4.0" and an unloaded weight near 10 oz.
