The JAKL uses a robust long-stroke gas piston with a captured recoil system, eliminating the need for a buffer tube. A tool-less, 8-position adjustable gas block lets the user fine-tune operation at the rifle variant level.
Its monolithic upper/handguard is machined from 6105 aluminum and provides a continuous top Picatinny rail with M-LOK slots at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock. The side-charging handle is ambidextrous, reversible, and requires no tools to swap.
The 16.5 in 4150V chrome-moly steel barrel is nitrided and threaded 1/2x28, capped with a three-prong JAKL flash hider. A 1:7 twist supports 5.56mm NATO loads, and the AR-15 pattern lower keeps familiar controls, including an ambidextrous safety selector.
The rifle is finished in Flat Dark Earth Cerakote to match the F5 MFG Modular Stock System G2, which folds, adjusts for length, and includes a cheekpiece and rubber buttpad. Receiver markings include 'PALMETTO STATE ARMORY WEST COLUMBIA, S.C.' and 'JAKL 5.56 NATO' with serial prefix J5.
Rounding out the package, this JAKL includes a SIG Sauer ROMEO-MSR red dot (unmounted), an installed angled foregrip, an installed M-LOK rail section, and a 30-round magazine for a ready-to-configure setup.
