The Model 82 uses a gas-operated system with a 3+1 tubular magazine and a 2.75-inch chamber, offering smooth cycling with a semi-humpback receiver profile. The right side of the receiver is marked "Weatherby EIGHTY—TWO," with serial numbering located on the receiver bottom ahead of the loading port.
The 28-inch barrel is topped with a vent rib and a brass bead front sight for a clean sight picture. The bead sight setup is straightforward and consistent with the shotgun’s field-ready configuration.
The receiver is factory scroll engraved and finished in a matte black anodized-style, paired with blued and black metalwork elsewhere. Barrel and receiver markings include a boxed "KP" stamp, a "Made in Japan" barrel address, and a "Weatherby SOUTH GATE, CALIF" barrel address, matching its period of production.
