The JAKL uses a long-stroke gas piston with an adjustable gas block, delivering a robust operating system tuned for a range of conditions. Its captive recoil spring assembly is contained within the upper, allowing the rifle to operate with the side-folding stock without a receiver extension.
The monolithic aluminum upper/handguard features a full-length Picatinny top rail and M-LOK slots at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock, providing ample space for mounting accessories. A reversible, non-reciprocating side-charging handle offers flexible setup and clean manual operation.
This rifle employs a 14.5 inch barrel with a pinned and welded three-prong flash hider and 1/2x28 threads. The configuration accepts STANAG/AR-15 pattern magazines and has a 30+1 capacity. No sights are installed from the factory.
Furniture and controls are practical and modern: a side-folding polymer stock with approximately 11–14 inches of adjustable length of pull and a rubber buttpad, plus a Magpul pistol grip. The Flat Dark Earth finish carries across the aluminum receiver set and stock, and the rifle is made in the USA with a manual safety selector.
