This 2021 Ruger AR-556 is a U.S.-made, AR-15–platform rifle built on forged 7075-T6 receivers with a Type III hard-coat anodized finish. It features a 16 in cold hammer-forged chrome-moly steel barrel threaded 1/2x28 with an A2-pattern birdcage flash suppressor, a flat-top Picatinny upper receiver, and a carbine-length gas system. It ships with three 30-round Amend2 magazines and retains its factory iron sights, including the fixed A2 front sight tower and Ruger Rapid Deploy flip-up rear sight.

The 16 in barrel is cold hammer-forged from chrome-moly steel for durability and consistent bore dimensions. It is threaded 1/2x28 and fitted with an A2-pattern birdcage flash suppressor. The 1:8 RH twist rate is designed to stabilize a wide range of 5.56mm projectiles.
The rifle uses a semi-automatic, direct-impingement operating system with a carbine-length gas system. Both upper and lower receivers are forged 7075-T6 aluminum with a Type III hard-coat anodized finish for wear resistance.
The flat-top Picatinny upper receiver includes a forward assist, brass deflector, and ejection port cover. Sighting is handled by a fixed A2-style front sight tower paired with a Ruger Rapid Deploy flip-up rear sight.
Furniture includes a six-position collapsible stock with a rear sling loop, an A2-style polymer pistol grip, and a two-piece ribbed polymer carbine-length handguard. The rifle accepts STANAG-pattern magazines for a 30+1 capacity and includes three 30-round Amend2 magazines.
