Built on a short-stroke gas-piston system with a multi-lug rotating bolt and right-side ejection, the FNAR is derived from the Browning BAR ShortTrac lineage. The platform was engineered for repeatable accuracy and longevity, with factory literature citing a 1-MOA accuracy claim and a 10,000-round internal durability standard.
The 16-inch chrome-moly steel barrel is cold-hammer-forged, fluted, and features a hard-chromed bore for durability. It is threaded and currently fitted with an aftermarket multi-port muzzle brake. The 1:12 RH twist suits a broad range of .308 Win loads.
The receiver is 7075-T6 aluminum with a matte black anodized finish and a receiver-length MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny top rail (approx. 9.75 inches). Controls include a right-side charging handle, an ambidextrous paddle-style magazine release, and a cross-bolt safety.
The black polymer stock includes interchangeable cheekpieces and a modular buttpad system to tailor fit, with an adjustable length of pull set at approximately 14.0 inches. Proprietary steel detachable box magazines feed the system, with a stated capacity of 20+1. This rifle includes three 20-round magazines and one 10-round magazine.
