The SOCOM 16 CQB configuration delivers a compact .308 Win package with a 16.25 in carbon steel barrel and a Springfield Armory proprietary multi-port muzzle brake to help manage recoil and muzzle rise. The barrel uses a 1:11 RH twist suitable for common .308/7.62 projectiles.
Its M14-based operating system uses a gas-operated short-stroke piston with a rotating bolt, providing the familiar M1A feel in a shorter format. The receiver is steel with a parkerized finish, and the rifle is finished in black.
Factory-style sights include an XS tritium front post; rear sight configuration may vary with the installed optic/mount. A forward scout-style Picatinny rail on the barrel is set up for optics placement, and this rifle comes with a HEX Dragonfly micro red dot installed, featuring a red reticle for quick target acquisition.
The Archangel CQB stock enhances ergonomics with a 5-position collapsible buttstock, an adjustable cheek piece, and a pistol grip. The Archangel CQB polymer forend adds M-LOK accessory slots at the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions. Length of pull is 11.5 in, and the rifle uses a two-stage trigger.
This M1A accepts standard M1A-pattern detachable box magazines and ships with both an extended 20-round and a compact 10-round steel magazine. Stated capacity is 20+1 when using the included 20-round magazine. Made in the USA.
