This example features a two-tone configuration with a black slide over an FDE aluminum-alloy frame and FDE barrel, a factory-threaded 5.1 inch chrome-lined barrel, and an ambidextrous slide-mounted safety/decocker. It comes with three 17-round magazines and the distinctive M9A3 ammo-can style hard case.

The M9A3 Type F uses a DA/SA short-recoil system with an external hammer and an ambidextrous slide-mounted safety/decocker with a red fire dot. Its universal slide is convertible between FS (safety/decocker) and G (decocker-only) configurations. The open-top slide design and fully dovetailed, removable front and rear 3-dot sights are factory features.
The 5.1 inch steel barrel is extended, factory threaded 1/2x28, and chrome-lined in both bore and chamber. This model presents a two-tone finish with a black slide and Flat Dark Earth frame and barrel.
The Flat Dark Earth aluminum-alloy frame includes a MIL-STD-1913 three-slot accessory rail on the dustcover. A Vertec-profile grip with thin panels is installed, and a wrap-around grip unit is included to provide an alternate grip circumference. Capacity is 17+1, and it accepts Beretta 92-series double-stack magazines; three 17-round magazines are included.
Italian/CIP proof marks are present on the frame near the right-side trigger guard area, and an 'IT18' date code is stamped at the left rear of the frame above the grip panel. The left side of the slide bears 'PIETRO BERETTA GARDONE V.T. – MADE IN ITALY' along with the 'BERETTA USA CORP. ACKK MD' import mark.
