The Gold Cup National Match line is Colt’s target-oriented 1911, and this Mk IV/Series 80 example is chambered in .45 ACP with a 5-inch Government-length barrel and a 7+1 capacity. It is a single-action, locked-breech platform with a thumb safety, grip safety, and the Series 80 firing-pin safety.
Construction features a stainless frame and a stainless-finished slide; some components, including the Elliason rear sight and select small parts, are finished in a contrasting black/blued tone. The slide features rear cocking serrations, a flat serrated rib for glare reduction, and a lowered and flared ejection port. It retains the standard short guide rod with plug.
Target features include an Elliason micrometer-adjustable rear sight paired with a front blade. The wide, lightened three-hole trigger includes an adjustable over-travel stop to fine-tune the break. A skeletonized Commander-style hammer complements the setup.
Ergonomics are enhanced by wraparound finger-groove wood and rubber grips with round Pachmayr crest medallions. Factory markings are clear: the left slide reads "SERIES '80 COLT MK IV" and "GOLD CUP NATIONAL MATCH" with the Rampant Colt, the right slide is marked "GOLD CUP NATIONAL MATCH" with the trophy cup, and the right side of the frame carries "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO.
HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A." This pistol was manufactured in the United States in 1998.
