This Springfield Armory Echelon 4.0C is a compact 9mm with a 4 inch hammer-forged, Melonite-treated barrel and a Melonite-finished slide. It features Springfield’s Variable Interface System for direct optics mounting, a removable serialized stainless-steel COG chassis, fully ambidextrous controls, and tall iron sights. It comes with a Viridian RFX11 micro reflex sight installed and four 10-round steel double-stack magazines.

The 4.0C compact variant pairs a 4 inch hammer-forged, Melonite-treated steel barrel with a striker-fired, locked-breech action for dependable 9mm performance in a carry-friendly size. Capacity is 10+1, and four 10-round magazines are included.
The Melonite-finished slide is cut with deep front and rear serrations for confident manipulation and features a forward trench index cut. Springfield’s Variable Interface System provides direct-mount accommodation for optics, and this pistol arrives with a Viridian RFX11 micro reflex sight installed. Tall iron sights back up the optic, with a high-visibility front post and a U-notch rear with white outline.
A removable serialized stainless-steel Central Operating Group (COG) chassis anchors the system inside a polymer grip module. The grip uses aggressive texturing, an integrated beavertail, and interchangeable backstraps to tailor the fit. An integral 1913 Picatinny rail on the dust cover supports lights or other rail-mounted accessories as needed.
Controls are fully ambidextrous, including the slide stop and magazine release. Safety features include a trigger safety and a loaded chamber indicator, with extractor text marked “LOADED WHEN OUT!” Proof and import markings read “MADE IN CROATIA, SI GENESEO, IL,” reflecting its Croatian manufacture for Springfield Armory.
