The 642-2 LadySmith is the .38 Special +P variant of S&W’s Airweight J-Frame Centennial line, featuring an enclosed-hammer design and double-action-only trigger. This SKU 163808A (M642LS) carries the LadySmith script on the sideplate and the round-butt J-frame profile with a fluted five-chamber cylinder.
Construction pairs a matte silver aluminum-alloy frame with a stainless steel barrel and stainless steel cylinder, both finished in matte silver. The hammer is internal, and the factory-installed internal key lock is present.
Sights are fixed, with an integral serrated ramp front and a topstrap rear groove. The 1.875 in barrel maintains the classic snub-length profile, and the revolver is rated for .38 Special +P ammunition. Capacity is five rounds.
Factory wood boot grips with S&W medallions are installed, featuring basket-weave-style panels for a distinctive look; an additional smooth wood boot grip is included. This U.S.-made LadySmith variant is noted as being on the DHS/ICE 2006 Personally Owned Weapons approved list.
