Built on Colt’s medium E/I-frame, this Fifth Issue Officers Model Match is a six-shot, double-action/single-action revolver with a polished blued carbon steel frame and a 6 inch tapered barrel. Its configuration reflects the period’s target-focused design, paired with a .38 Special chambering and a fluted cylinder.
The sighting system is set up for precision work: a Patridge-style front sight pinned to a short ramp and a fully adjustable rear sight. Anti-glare serrations on the topstrap and rear gripstrap further support a clear sight picture under light.
Exterior details include an exposed ejector rod with a knurled tip (no underlug), an exposed hammer with a wide checkered spur, and checkered walnut service-style stocks featuring silver Colt medallions. The Colt rampant pony appears on the left side of the frame.
Factory markings include the barrel left-side rollmark "OFFICERS MODEL MATCH CAL. 38 SPECIAL." The serial number is confirmed on the crane/yoke (not disclosed). This example dates to 1954 and was manufactured in the United States.
