Product Description

    Smith & Wesson Model 64 No-Dash .38 Special, 4 in Tapered Barrel, Stainless K-Frame, 6-Shot DA/SA Revolver

This early no-dash Smith & Wesson Model 64 is a stainless-steel K-frame .38 Special with the desirable 4 in tapered barrel and square-butt frame. Built in the late 1973–early 1974 window (per serial range), it features fixed sights with an integral ramp front that retains its orange insert/paint, walnut Magna-style checkered stocks with S&W medallions, and a six-shot fluted cylinder with exposed, knurled ejector-rod tip and no underlug. The yoke cut is properly marked "MOD. 64," and the bore condition is excellent.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Condition: Excellent - Clean, mirror finish, no signs of wear.

Bore Rifling: Excellent Rifling - Sharp lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: The stainless surfaces show minor, superficial scratches and small handling marks. The bore presents a bright, mirror-like appearance.

As the stainless-steel counterpart to the Model 10, the Model 64 earned a long record of U.S. police service. This example reflects that classic service configuration: a 4 in tapered barrel, fixed sights, and a square-butt K-frame for balanced handling and controllable recoil with standard .38 Special loads.

The no-dash configuration and late 1973–early 1974 production window align with early stainless K-frame manufacturing, making this revolver notable for buyers who value period-correct details. The yoke cut is marked "MOD. 64," matching factory practice for the era.

Sight regulation is straightforward with a fixed square-notch rear and an integral ramp front; the orange insert/paint on the front blade remains present for improved visibility. The smooth-face trigger and spur hammer support controllable double-action and precise single-action use.

Construction is all stainless steel, including the frame, cylinder, and barrel. The six-shot fluted cylinder retains the exposed, knurled ejector-rod tip and lacks an underlug, consistent with the tapered-barrel configuration. Walnut Magna-style checkered stocks with S&W medallions complete the square-butt profile.
