Product Description

Weatherby Mark V Deluxe .240 Weatherby Magnum, Japan-Howa 6-lug, 24 in Barrel, Walnut Monte Carlo Stock, Leupold Rings, Muzzle Brake

This Weatherby Mark V Deluxe in .240 Weatherby Magnum is a Japan-era Howa build from the 1974–1981 period, identifiable by its H-prefix serial range and 6-lug Mark V action. It features a 24-inch sporter barrel, a high-gloss walnut Deluxe stock with classic trim, and Leupold two-piece bases with 1-inch rings installed. An aftermarket multi-port muzzle brake has been added, a non-factory modification for Deluxe models of this era.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Condition: Excellent - Clean, mirror finish, no signs of wear.

Bore Rifling: Excellent Rifling - Sharp lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: The rifle is mechanically in very good shape. The stock shows noticeable handling marks, including scratches and abrasions, while the clear-coat remains intact and glossy. The buttpad shows drying and cracking, and a replacement will be needed soon.

    What's Included
    • Leupold 1-inch scope rings with Leupold two-piece bases (installed)
    • Aftermarket multi-port muzzle brake (installed)

Built on the Japan-produced Mark V 6-lug action, this rifle includes the short bolt lift, a fluted bolt body, and gas relief holes. The receiver is steel with a matte gray finish and is drilled and tapped, with Leupold two-piece bases and 1-inch rings already installed. Safety is provided by the Mark V bolt shroud safety.

The chambering is .240 Weatherby Magnum, fed by an internal box magazine with a hinged floorplate for a 4+1 capacity. The 24-inch sporter-contour barrel carries a matte finish and no iron sights. An aftermarket multi-port muzzle brake is installed, an addition not typically included on factory Deluxe rifles of this period.

The Deluxe walnut stock is finished in high gloss and features a Monte Carlo comb with a right-hand cheekpiece, skip-line checkering, a rosewood grip cap with white diamond inlay, and a rosewood forend tip with spacers. Sling swivel studs are installed, and the ventilated recoil pad includes line spacers. Length of pull measures 13.375 inches.

Markings include "SOUTH GATE CALIF. MADE IN JAPAN," "MARK V U.S. PAT. NO. 3,013,355," and "Weatherby 240 MAGNUM," aligning with the Howa/Japan production period from 1974 to 1981 and the H-prefix serial range that collectors recognize for this era.
