Assembled in an AR-15 pistol configuration, this build uses a factory Colt 9mm Sporter Lightweight lower with a pistol buffer tube and no shoulder stock. The upper is a 12-inch 9mm blowback unit capped with a long multi-port muzzle brake/compensator, offering a compact format with classic Colt features.
The receiver set highlights hallmark early-1990s Colt characteristics: a slab-side lower without a raised magazine-release fence and a large two-screw front pivot pin. The fixed carry-handle upper is a slick-side pattern with no forward assist or brass deflector, and it retains an ejection-port cover.
Colt’s 9mm system is present with a pinned magazine-well adapter and a one-piece 9mm blowback bolt, feeding from a straight 9mm stick magazine with witness marks at 10, 20, and 32. The action is straight blowback, paired to a 32+1 capacity in 9mm Luger.
Sighting is handled by A1-pattern iron sights: an A1-style triangular front sight tower with a post and no bayonet lug, and an A1-pattern rear sight in the fixed carry handle. The carbine-length ribbed round polymer handguards and round slip-ring delta ring maintain the period-correct Colt appearance, with a front sling swivel under the sight tower and a front sight base casting mark "101."
The forged aluminum alloy receivers wear a hard-coat anodized finish and originate from Colt’s early 1990s production in the USA. The NL-prefix on this Sporter Lightweight lower is associated with pre-ban units from the R6430-series timeframe.
