The MCX SPEAR LT uses a semi-automatic, short-stroke gas piston operating system with a bufferless internal recoil assembly. This design enables a true side-folding stock and the capability to fire with the stock folded, while maintaining smooth cycling and compact storage.
The 16 in cold hammer forged carbon steel barrel has a 1:7 twist to stabilize a wide range of 5.56mm NATO projectiles. It is threaded 1/2x28 and fitted with a three-prong flash hider, giving immediate compatibility with common muzzle devices.
Controls are fully ambidextrous, including the safety selector and magazine release, with a right-side bolt catch for added convenience. The rifle includes a Radian Raptor-LT ambidextrous charging handle, a 12.5 in length of pull, a SIG polymer pistol grip, and an aluminum receiver finished in coyote/tan anodizing.
The MCX SPEAR LT free-float M-LOK handguard features an anti-deflection interface, tension screws, and an integral QD sling cup. A continuous top Picatinny rail provides straightforward mounting for optics. The skeletonized folding stock incorporates a cheek piece and rubber buttpad, and the platform accepts AR-15/STANAG magazines with a 30+1 capacity. Weight is approximately 7.4 lb, and the rifle is made in the USA.
