The rifle uses a semi-automatic, direct-impingement operating system on the AR-15 platform. Both upper and lower receivers are 7075-T6 aluminum with a Type III hard-coat anodized finish. The flat-top upper includes a Picatinny rail and an ejection-port dust cover for service-ready function.
Sighting equipment includes an A2-style fixed front sight on an "H"-stamped gas block and Ruger’s Rapid Deploy folding rear sight. Furniture consists of two-piece ribbed carbine handguards made from glass-filled polymer with a Ruger medallion and a knurled delta ring with a single-piece triangular front handguard cap.
