The M&P15 is built on matte black aluminum receivers with a direct-impingement, rotating-bolt system and a carbine-length gas system. It includes a forward assist, ejection-port cover, and brass deflector, with factory rollmarks reading "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MA MADE IN U.S.A." and "MODEL M&P-15."
Its 16 in barrel uses a 1:9 twist and ends in a threaded muzzle fitted with a multi-port muzzle brake/compensator featuring two large opposing side ports and a top port. Sighting components include a fixed A2 front sight base with bayonet lug and front sling swivel, paired with a flip-up rear sight on the flat-top receiver rail.
Furniture consists of a 6-position collapsible polymer stock (length of pull approximately 10–13.5 in), an A2-style polymer pistol grip, and carbine-length two-piece polymer handguards with heat-shield vents and a standard delta ring. The flat-top upper provides a Picatinny rail for optics, and the rifle accepts detachable STANAG-pattern magazines. Capacity is 30+1.
A Sightmark reflex red dot (non-magnified, red reticle) is installed on the receiver rail for quick sighting. Four 30-round magazines are included, along with the original box, offering a complete ready-to-use package. Made in the United States with a matte black finish throughout.
