The IJ-70 is a Makarov-pattern, single-stack compact pistol, built with an all-steel frame and slide and finished in blued/black oxide. Its 3.7 in fixed steel barrel and straight-blowback operation follow the classic Russian design, chambered for the 9x18mm Makarov cartridge.
Controls include a double-action/single-action trigger, a slide-mounted safety that also functions as a decocker, and a heel-type magazine release. The slide incorporates an external extractor and a serrated top rib.
