Built as a faithful percussion reproduction, this single-action revolver uses a wedge-retained, 7.5 inch octagonal steel barrel with a retaining screw on the right side. A traditional under-barrel loading lever with front latch supports cap-and-ball operation.
The open-top Colt pattern steel frame is paired with brass trigger guard and backstrap and one-piece reddish-brown wood grips. Sighting is simple and robust, with a pinned brass bead front and a hammer-notch rear.
The plain six-shot steel cylinder is free of the Naval battle roll scene, giving the gun a clean, unadorned look. The barrel’s left flat is marked "BLACK POWDER ONLY .44 CAL." for clear caliber identification.
Factory and proof markings include the F.LLI PIETTA – MADE IN ITALY roll mark, the FAP-in-diamond maker’s mark, and Italian "PN" black-powder proof, with additional Italian proof/date stamps on the cylinder. The serial number is located on the front of the brass grip frame, and the underside of the barrel carries an additional "201" stamp.
