The Model 82 Government is the U.S.-marked, single-shot variant of Kimber of Oregon’s renowned smallbore target rifle line. This example bears the GM-prefix serial that aligns with the Government-contract production and the U.S. marking, adding clear provenance to a purpose-built competition rifle.
Its 25-inch heavy bull barrel with a recessed crown supports consistent shot-to-shot stability. The right-hand bolt features a low-swept handle for unobtrusive operation, and the steel receiver wears a classic blued finish. A two-position safety complements the straightforward, single-shot 1-round configuration.
Precision sighting is delivered by Olympic-style iron sights: a receiver-mounted micrometer-adjustable aperture rear sight paired with a barrel-mounted hooded/globe front. This sight setup is designed for exacting point-of-aim control demanded in smallbore target and three-position disciplines.
The walnut stock is built for target work, with a beavertail forend and an inletted T-slot accessory rail that accepts the included sliding handstop/sling swivel. A rubber buttplate with spacer stack and a 13.5-inch length of pull provide a solid and adaptable interface to the shooter.
Overall presentation is very good, and the bore condition stands out as excellent, with a clean, mirror finish and sharp rifling. The result is a U.S.-marked 82G that combines Government-contract lineage with the features shooters look for in a dedicated smallbore target rifle.
