This is a pre-ban Colt AR-15 A2 Government Model chambered in 5.56 NATO from late-1980s production, notable for its Green Label status and classic A2 configuration. The lower receiver is rollmarked "CAL .223," which is typical for Colt commercial Green Label rifles of this era, while the barrel/chamber is 5.56 NATO. It features a 20-inch, 1:7 twist barrel marked C MP 5.56 NATO 1/7, an A2 flash suppressor, and a bayonet lug. The rifle comes with its original Colt factory carton with matching R6550K end label (noting .223 Rem/5.56mm), two 20-round USGI-pattern magazines, and an installed A.R.M.S. carry-handle scope rail.

This Government Model is a Green Label, pre-ban configuration produced prior to the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban. It is GS-prefix Government Model production and uses the large two-screw front pivot characteristic of this period.
The 20-inch steel barrel has a 1:7 RH twist and is marked "C MP 5.56 NATO 1/7." It retains the correct A2 front sight base with square post, an A2 flash suppressor on the threaded muzzle, and a bayonet lug. The upper is the A2 pattern with case deflector, round forward assist, and an ejection port cover, paired with the adjustable A2 carry-handle rear sight.
The rifle uses an aluminum receiver with a Type III hardcoat anodized medium gray ("Colt gray") finish and STANAG magazine interface. Furniture includes a fixed polymer stock with a 13.5-inch length of pull, A2 pistol grip, and A2 rifle-length ribbed polymer handguards. A manual safety controls the semi-automatic, direct-impingement action.
Markings include the C MP barrel proof/MPI stamp and a C over M forging code on the carry handle. The original factory carton bears the R6550K package code (associated with a .22 LR conversion kit package); only the carton is present. The end label denotes .223 Rem/5.56mm, consistent with the .223 commercial lower rollmark and 5.56 NATO chamber. An A.R.M.S. carry-handle scope rail is installed, providing a solid mounting platform above the carry handle.
