The M&P15-22 Sport uses a semi-automatic blowback action in .22 LR with a 25+1 capacity, combining affordable shooting with familiar AR-style ergonomics. Its polymer upper and lower receivers keep weight down while the carbon-steel barrel delivers durability. Factory markings include “M&P 15-22” on the magwell and “SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MA MADE IN U.S.A.” on the receiver.
The 16.5-inch barrel is threaded and fitted with an A2-pattern birdcage flash suppressor. A slim, free-float polymer M-LOK handguard with a molded M&P logo surrounds the barrel, and a continuous 1913 Picatinny rail runs from the receiver to the handguard for straightforward mounting of optics and accessories. An M-LOK Picatinny segment at 6 o'clock is installed to support the included bipod.
Controls are AR-style, including the T-handle charging handle and a manual safety selector marked SAFE/FIRE. The rifle has a 6-position collapsible stock with a rear sling loop and an AR-pattern textured polymer pistol grip. The receiver design omits a forward assist and ejection-port cover, consistent with the model’s lightweight build. Length of pull measures 13.75 inches.
Optics and range gear are already in place: a fixed 4x32 scope with a duplex reticle and 1-inch tube is mounted in matching rings on the top rail, and a Caldwell bipod is attached to the 6 o'clock rail segment. Two factory 25-round M&P15-22 polymer magazines are included to keep you shooting longer between reloads.
