Allen & Thurber was a United States firearms maker founded in 1837 by Ethan Allen and Charles Thurber. The brand name ended in 1856, with the line continuing as Allen & Wheelock (1856–1865) and E. Allen & Company (1865–1871), then after Ethan Allen’s death as Forehand & Wadsworth (1871–1890) and Forehand Arms Company (1890–1902), which was acquired by Hopkins & Allen in 1902. Its legacy centers on percussion revolving pistols with multi-shot, self-cocking mechanisms that saw wide use in the 1830s and 1840s.
