American Standard Tool Company was a United States firearms maker founded in 1868 by a group of New York and Newark businessmen, led by company president Frederick H. Smith. The company was the successor to Manhattan Fire Arms Manufacturing Company and was dissolved in early 1873 with no present-day successor brand. It is best known for its .22 rimfire tip-up, spur-trigger pocket revolvers marked “American Standard Tool Co., Newark, N.J.,” with roughly 40,000 produced from about 1869 to 1873.
