Waffenfabrik August Menz was founded in Germany in 1915 by August Menz. The company was acquired by Lignose AG in 1937, with production of its ultra-small pocket pistol continuing under the Theodor Bergmann Erben branding. Its legacy centers on ultra-compact pocket pistols, including 4.25 mm designs among the smallest semiautomatic handguns, and it also produced the Beholla service pistol during World War I (later marketed as the Menta).
