The C.G Haenel Kar 88 is a bolt-action carbine, a shortened Gewehr 1888 with a Mannlicher-style 5-round en-bloc clip, chambered in 7.92×57mm I (M/88). Its bent "spoon" bolt handle was devised to prevent accidental opening when the carbine was carried on the back during mounted service.
