Gárate, Anitua y Compañía was founded in 1892 in Spain by members of the Gárate family together with José Francisco Anitua, Eulogio Anitua, and Nemesio Astaburuaga. The firm pivoted to bicycles beginning in 1927, wound down arms production in the early 1930s, and was ultimately dissolved in 2003.
