Introducing the Tula SKS semi-automatic rifle, a historic piece of weaponry from the heart of Russia. Manufactured by the legendary Tula Arms factory, this rifle is a survivor from the peak years of the Cold War, 1953-1954. In excellent condition, this item shows only the faintest signs of prior use or handling for its age. There are no visible scratches, dents, rust, corrosion or pitting, emphasizing its well-preserved state and professional refurbishing. Along with the rifle, the sale includes an original cleaning kit located in the buttstock.
This SKS is visibly force-matched. Refurbishment marks are visible on the replaced buttstock and the replaced receiver top cover. Despite not having an exact date, we were able to pin-point the production years down to 1953-1954 based off the production differences throughout the years.
The Tula SKS is renowned for its history, durability, and performance. Originally designed by Sergei Gavrilovich Simonov in the early 1940s, the SKS was the weapon of choice for the Russian military before the adoption of the AK-47. The Tula Arms factory, one of the oldest and most prestigious weapons manufacturing plants worldwide, started producing this model in 1949. The mid-50's production period is considered the pinnacle of its manufacturing era.
Featuring a gas piston action and a 10-round capacity, this rifle is chambered in the versatile 7.62x39mm round. The black oxide finish, a result of an oxidation process applied to protect the metal from corrosion, gives the rifle an aesthetically pleasing appearance. The refurbished, force-matched laminate Russian artic birch wood stock adds a touch of elegance and authenticity to the piece.
The Tula SKS is a true piece of history known for its superior durability and reliability. With its balance of power and recoil, it is suitable for a variety of shooting environments. Its gas piston action ensures efficient cycling and minimizes jamming, providing smooth and consistent operation. This model is not just a firearm; it's a piece of history, a testament to renowned Russian craftsmanship and a must-have for any firearm enthusiast or collector.
