Presenting a classic beauty with a storied past - the Remington Model 11, Submodel 'The Sportsman', a 16 Gauge Semi Auto Shotgun. Manufactured in the United States in 1947, this vintage firearm is an epitome of skilled craftsmanship, resilience and power. While it has seen its fair share of use and handling, its appeal to collectors and firearm enthusiasts remains undiminished.
With an overall fair condition, this shotgun showcases a rich history of prior use. The forend bears a significant crack and the wood has visible dings and dents, indicating a challenging past. The wood has also been refinished, albeit poorly, and the metal shows a significant loss of bluing. Despite these cosmetic flaws, the shotgun's bore is in an excellent condition - clean with a mirror finish and no signs of wear.
The Model 11 Sportsman is equipped with a long recoil action, a capacity of 2+1, and a 26" plain barrel. The finish is blued and the stock and forend feature checkering and a recoil pad. Unfortunately, the front bead sight is missing and the checkering is filled with finish. The chamber is 2 3/4" and the choke is fixed (IC) Improved Cylinder.
Adding an artistic touch to the gun, the game scene engraving provides a light accent, enhancing the overall visual appeal. Despite the signs of wear and tear, this piece remains a functional work of art. This shotgun is not only a potent tool for hunting or target shooting but also a collector's piece with a rich narrative waiting to be discovered.
